KUCHING: A retired policeman’s car front windshield was smashed by two men after they had an altercation following a minor accident yesterday.

The incident occurred around noon when the 60-something pensioner and his wife were heading to Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg to fetch their two grandchildren from school.

Along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, two men on a motorcycle knocked into the old Toyota station wagon from behind, prompting the retired cop to exit the car to assess the damage.

However, the two men were adamant they did not want to pay for the damages, and also refused to lodge a report of the accident with the traffic police, resulting in an argument between both sides.

Shortly after, the two men became agitated when they spotted a police patrol car passing by not far away and tried to get back on their motorcycle to speed off.

When the retired cop tried to stop them, the duo used their motorcycle helmets to smash the front windshield of his car before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, the ex-cop and his wife headed to the Simpang Tiga police station to lodge a report, and also handed over the broken licence number plate of the motorcycle used by the two men for further investigation.
