KANOWIT: Police here have arrested a man yesterday for suspected involvement in an armed robbery at the house of a pork seller at Pantu Mali, Jalan Lukut-Penyulau near here in January.

Acting on a tip-off, the police led by Inspector Mohd Razif Mohd Yusuf raided a house at Teluk Majau, Jalan Rantau Kemiding around 10.30am.

When the police arrived, a woman believed to be the suspect’s wife bolted into the house.

The suspect tried to escape but the police managed to arrest him after they found him hiding in the corner of a bedroom.

The suspect, known only as Ah Hu, 39, has been taken to the police station here.

Kanowit police chief DSP Ismail Mahmood when contacted yesterday confirmed the arrest.

He said the suspect would assist in the investigation of the armed robbery where a pork seller, Ah Lee, 42, fractured his left arm and injured his forehead in the incident.

Ismail said the victim reported loss of RM50,000 which he placed in a safe in his room.

The robbers also stole a laptop from the house.

“We are tracking down another suspect in his 30s from Sibu. He is also suspected to be involved in the armed robbery,” he said.
