KUCHING: The Labour Department will hold its yearly 3P job placement programme on March 23 at Hills Shopping Mall from 9am to 5pm.

State senior assistant director of labour Ahmad Lamat said 35 employers would participate in this 3P programme and offer 1,452 job opportunities in different categories of employment.

“We hope that the employers can offer employment on the spot to those interested and the
only thing that the jobseekers have to bring is their certificates,” he told a press conference yesterday.

Ahmad said the programme aimed to provide opportunities for jobseekers to obtain information on employment, training and vacancies.

“At the same time this programme is hoped to give opportunities for companies to interview and subsequently hire qualified and potential candidates to fill in the vacancies offered,” he said.

Ahmad added that the programme is also to help facilitate employee relocation for those affected by retrenchment.

“Out of the 1,452 vacancies offered, only 242 vacancies are for the general worker positions so a huge percentage of these vacancies are better vacancies,” he said.

Those who do not manage to find suitable employment during the 3P programme, he said, could still sign up for the department’s job seeking portal at www.jobsmalaysia.gov.my, which is free for all.

“Employers can also do a similar thing if they want to look for employees online. Those who do not have computers or Internet connection can come to our office as we have the facilities here for them to do online registration,” he said.

The department will also station officers to entertain queries and employment-related problems.

“If anybody has any problem or question with regards to our department’s function and employment related problems, they can bring them up during the programme,” he said.
