Former MPSJ assistant director faces 15 fake-invoice charges

SHAH ALAM: A former Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) assistant director was charged with 15 counts of making false claims concerning the supply of signboards and waste bins, involving RM256,120 two years ago.

Ahmad Faizal Azhar, 41, from Putra Heights near here, however, pleaded not guilty after all charges were read to him before Judge M.Bakri Abd Majid.

He was accused of making the false claims by submitting 15 fake invoices from seven companies and an individual to MPSJ corporate planning director Hamizun Mohd Basar and MPSJ community development director Hani Salleh pertaining to the supply of 120 signboards and 460 waste bins.

He was alleged to have committed the offence sat the MPSJ office here on Jan 7 and Dec 30, 2011.

The charge under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and fine of RM10,000 or five times the value of the gratification, whichever is higher.

M.Bakri allowed Ahmad Faizal bail of RM20,000 in one surety and ordered him to surrender his passport to the court and to report to the nearest police every moth until the case is closed.

April 29 was fixed for remention, while the five-day trial would begin on June 10.

MACC prosecution officer Mahamad Sukri Abu Seman prosecuted, while Ahmad Faizal was represented by Mohd Shahrullah Khan Nawab. — Bernama
