Dawos says has strategies ready up his sleeves

KUCHING: Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos, who is widely tipped to defend Mambong seat in the coming general election, says he has the strategies ready up his sleeves.

He, however, said it was a matter of time to unleash them.

The deputy tourism minister said it would be illegal to implement the strategies now as nomination had not been held.

“We are ready and raring to go (for the election). We cannot implement them now until the nomination day,” he said when contacted soon after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the dissolution of parliament yesterday.

Najib announced the dissolution of parliament around 11.30am after receiving consent from Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, whom he met earlier in the morning.

Mambong is a predominantly Bidayuh seat, comprising Bengoh and Tarat state seats.

Dawos first contested the seat in the 1999 general election as a Barisan Nasional (BN) direct candidate, following the re-delineation exercise by Election Commission (EC).

He later joined Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and is presently an elected supreme council member of the party.

In the 2008 general election, he defeated Majen Panjog of Parti Keadilan Rakyat by a majority of 6,657 votes. Dawos garnered 14,182 votes against Majen’s 7,525 votes.
