LIMBANG: The Limbang Area Fishermen’s Association (PNKL) donated RM518 to the Lahad Datu Warriors’ Fund yesterday.

PNKL chairman Sondit Mail, accompanied by members and Malaysian Fisheries Development Board Limbang officer Razedy Abdul Amit, handed over the donation to Limbang District police chief Superitendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai.

Sondit said a donation drive was conducted recently to alleviate the sufferings of family members of security forces who died while safeguarding the country against intruders in Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah.

“We should have a humanitarian spirit and support all our security personnel, irrespective of their rank, as they all played their roles in protecting the sovereignty of the nation,” he told reporters. Sondit said his association will continue collecting donations until the end of this month, adding that yesterday’s contribution was collected from members who attended the association’s annual general meeting on March 25.

Meanwhile, Mohd Bukhori said with the latest donation in the district, the fund had increased to RM18,278.50.

He thanked association members and the public for their support.
