Driver dies of heart attack

AFTERMATH: The car which landed in a ditch at Pedada Road.

SIBU: A driver drove his car off the road and died after he was struck with heart attack at Pedada Road yesterday noon.

Liu Ka Ur was breathless when passers-by broke into his car through its back window to rescue him.

When the firemen arrived, they broke into the car to take his body out and the police sent it to the hospital mortuary.

His father-in-law who rushed over with Liu’s wife confirmed that the 37-year-old man had a medical history of hypertension, but, had it under control.

Liu had just sent his parents to the wharf for an express boat ride back home to Song when the incident occurred.

He was returning to his Deshon Road home then.

Other drivers saw his car snaking before it hit the side of the road and came to halt in a ditch.

Family members believed Liu could have been hit with the heart attack then.

When his parents were  informed of Liu’s death, they were already on the boat journey to Song.

Liu left behind his wife and two sons, aged five and 10.
