KOTA KINABALU: With the 13th general election closely approaching, chatters among the public as to who should be allowed to be the government are getting louder.

A retiree who only wanted to be known as Idat of Putatan here, for instance, was keen on the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

“My friends and families around me have voiced their own opinions and that is they want to change and that its time for a change, but for me, things have been all right with the BN government so I don’t feel the need to change,” he said.

He said the BN government had looked after retired folks like him well and he felt safe under its governance.

“If the opposition rules, how can I be sure that people like me will be looked after? No, I prefer the party that I am already experienced with that has the capability to care for those in need of being looked after and that is BN,” he said.

He added that he would not be swayed by the call of change by people around him.

“If they want a change, it is up to them. But for me, I am contented with how things are going,” he said.

A businessman who also wished anonymity on the other hand stressed that change was crucial and that the people of Sabah should be brave enough to see change taking place.

“We should stop voting for the BN government and see what a new government is capable of bringing us,” he said. Salesman, Rodney C, was at a loss as to which party to choose, stating that he didn’t have confidence in any of them.

“How sure will it be that PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) will be a better ruler than the BN government? Or any other opposition party for that matter?”

He said he would prefer to know the candidates he was selecting rather than the party they were in.

“If they are capable of doing their work, then I would go for them,” he said.
