KUCHING: For many years, former conservationist, Wilfred Stephen @ Wilfred Landong, had been seen sporting a rock-style ponytail and a flip-flop hat, but today he came in with a clean image after being announced as a candidate for the 13th General Election (GE13).

The 57-year-old aspiring parliamentarian had shaved his head almost bald when he was introduced as one of the six candidates to be fielded by Sarawak Workers’ Party (SWP), where he would be contesting for the Sri Aman seat.

“Now this is my political image,” he said when asked on the reason he had opted to go near hairless.

Apart from Wilfred, SWP president, Larry Sng Wei Shien said he himself would be contesting in Lubok Antu, while his father, Datuk Sng Chee Chua would be fielded in Selangau.

The other SWP candidates for the GE13 would be George Lagong for Hulu Rajang, Wong Judat (Julau) and Ellison Ludan (Kanowit).

Meanwhile, the senior Sng said his decision to contest in the coming GE13 after sitting out from the last few elections was not to disappoint the incumbent for Selangau, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun, who had openly challenged him to stand there several times.

“He insisted, and I don’t want to disappoint him (Entulu). Either he loses happily or I win happily, we don’t knowlah,” he said.  – Bernama
