‘Opposition grasp of land laws poor’

BEKENU: Land issues championed by the opposition are baseless as they (opposition) do not have a good grounding in land laws, said State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar yesterday.

He said the BN was sick of the opposition’s continual recycling of this issue even though they know that the government was implementing perimeter survey for the benefit of NCR land owners.

Urging the people not to be confused by the opposition, Asfia said land acquisition in the state was done in a systematic and orderly manner to ensure balanced development.

“The opposition are champions in talking, but they actually do not have a good knowledge of land laws.

“We (BN) are sick of their old tactic alleging that the government only know how to seize people’s land,” said Asfia, who was campaigning at the residence of Kampung Muhibbah chief, Awang Taib Awang Hassan, in Sepupok, Niah.

Asfia said all development projects, such as roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and government offices, were all well planned.

“Land acquisition had to be done for the implementation of various basic infrastructure projects for the wellbeing of the people.”

At the event, Asfia urged voters in Sibuti to continue supporting BN candidate Ahmad Lai Bujang in the May 5 general election.

He said this was important as only the BN could develop the constituency. #myvotes13 #ge13
