GOOD START: MMMC foundation students undergoing practical training.

KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka-Manipal Medical College’s (MMMC) Foundation in Science programme has received great response at recent education fairs in Kuala Lumpur,Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

Limited to 100 students per intake, the unique curriculum integrates medical and dentistry subjects.

An analysis of student performance in MMMC’s degree courses identified a common thread where students in MMMC’s medical and dentistry degrees qualifying through other pre-university courses often found their medical or dental studies quite challenging, particularly in the crucial first couple of years.

This was due more to the generic academic structure of these other long established programmes.

The inclusion of subjects in the FiS such as basic anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, oral biology and other related subjects indicate a sharper learning curve for students embarking on their medical studies.

It ensures students have the maximum benefit in the teaching-learning experience as well as comprehensive academic and social development.

Students are also assured of a place in the MMMC Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes, if they meet the minimum entry requirements.

The FiS intake is on this month.
