MARUDI: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Anyi Ngau who is contesting the Baram seat said the people living in this constituency can live under one roof despite differences in ethnicity and culture.

“In Baram, there are not only the Kenyahs and Kayans but Penans, Chinese, Ibans, Berawans, Kiput and many others,” Anyi said at the Lei Cha Day celebrated by the Chinese here last Wednesday.

He said though a minority in Baram, the Chinese are good to other communities as they have strong ties with their fellowmen.

“These ties are becoming stronger through participation in their associations,” Anyi said.

Telang Usan assemblylman Dennis Ngau meanwhile said the Chinese community here should continue to give undivided support to BN on May 5.

“Our economy continues to grow even though other countries suffered economic crisis because we are governed by a good government. And I believe the Chinese, who are actively involved in business, should support BN because it proves itself good in managing our economy,” Dennis said.

The event was organised by Baram Hopoh Association and Baram Hakka Association (Women Section). #myvote13 #ge13
