STAR president happy with support

KUCHING: State Reform Party (STAR) president Dr Patau Rubis claimed he was overwhelmed by the support given by supporters and volunteers who helped in the party’s campaign.

He added that judging by the number of volunteers stepping forward to assist the party, which he said was in the ‘hundreds’ the feedback from the ground had been very positive.

“STAR was overwhelmed by the support shown, be it for campaigning or those who offered their assistance during polling day. We felt that this is a statement of the people of Sarawak’s wish for a change,” said Dr Patau.

He observed that if STAR could be welcomed by voters in Sabah, the same situation could happen in Sarawak.

“In fact, independent candidate for Mas Gading (Datuk Dr) Tiki Lafe was even quoted in the papers several days ago on his acknowledgement towards the need for him to work together with STAR after the state election,” he elaborated.

He was speaking to reporters at a press conference at STAR headquarters at Jalan Batu Kawa yesterday.

Dr Patau also reminded voters on the need to practise real democracy and that it was wrong for a candidate to promise something that they cannot even deliver.

“We need clean and progressive politics and I hope that a law that forbids MP from doing business could be implemented.”

Also present were Santubong STAR candidate Mura Kadir and Stampin STAR candidate Lina Soo. #myvote13 #ge13
