ALOR SETAR: There were still many Chinese in this country who supported Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election (GE13) held last Sunday.
Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang said it would be unfair for any quarters to imply that the Chinese rejected BN as there were those who voted for BN.
“Actuallly, in Kedah, many Chinese supported BN in the elections, enabling BN to return to power in the state,” he said at a press conference, here, today.
Tan said all quarters must return to maintaining unity and avoid racial politics to ensure national peace and development.
“We, Kedah Gerakan Youth, also urge the opposition pact to accept the GE13 results with an open heart and respect the choice of the majority of Malaysians.”
He said it was clear that the majority of Malaysians wanted BN to continue governing the country to preserve peace and continue with the development taking place. – Bernama
