SIBU: About two thousand people gathered for Bersih Sibu at Sibu gateway last night.

They were mostly young people who dressed in black to show their disappointment at the just-concluded 13th General Election.

Leader of the gathering, Dominic Hii, told the crowd that it was their right to come out to voice out their unhappiness.

“We are fighting for a clean and fair election, which we did not get; we want equal education, that is why we are here today.

“This is the thing that we want the BN government to understand,” he pointed out.

He said there was nothing wrong in objecting what they felt was not right.

Claiming that the just-concluded election was the dirtiest ever in the history of Malaysia, they chanted and shouted for Bersih 4.0 to be held.

Also present at the event were the newly-elected MPs Oscar Ling (Sibu) and Alice Lau (Lanang), Pelawan assemblyman David Wong, Dudong assemblyman Yap Hoi Leong, and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Lanang branch chairman George Chen.

George also gave away yellow ribbons to the crowd to show their support for clean and fair election.

Oscar and Alice said that they wanted to have a new government to give new hope for the people of Malaysia.

The event concluded with Oscar leading the crowd singing the national anthem.

After about one hour, all dispersed peacefully.
