KUALA LUMPUR: The Fourth Asia-Europe Meeting of Ministers for Education (ASEMME4) will focus on four key topics, among others the university-business cooperation in efforts to strengthen cooperation between Asian and European countries.

Higher Education Department director-general Professor Dr Morshidi Sirat said the other three topics will be on the quality assurance and recognition, mobility and lifelong learning, including vocational education and training.

These topics were identified by the Education Ministers at ASEMME3 (2011) in Copenhagen, Denmark and  need a careful plan to strategise collaboration and implementation, he told reporters after delivering his welcome address and chairing the Second Senior Officials Meeting of ASEMME4, here, today.

“There is a need to identify players to strategise collaborative efforts in the four topic areas in order to shape the strategic partnership and make education systems in the member states more transparent and visible,” he said.

Some 148 participants comprising education ministers and senior officers from 32 Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) member countries, including seven organisations, are attending the three-day ASEMME4 which kicked off yesterday. — Bernama
