KUCHING: The Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) will hold its charity and food sale at the Association of Churches in Sarawak building at Jalan Stampin on June 30 from 8am to 12pm.

Organising chairwoman Connie Yeo said the public can support the event by buying food coupons, setting up stalls or donating items for sale.

She said the purpose of the event is to raise funds to operate the association’s training centre.

“There are presently 45 students under training at the centre and there are 17 teachers, one supervisor and one administrator.

“Although each student attending the training centre is paying a therapy fee of RM350 a month, the deficit in the operating fund is estimated to be about RM267,000 this year. The target of the sale this time is RM250,000,” she said yesterday.

She urged corporate companies to donate to the association for education purposes, and called for more volunteers to help with the sale.

KAA is waiting for its occupancy permit for the new training centre at Jalan Desa Wira, Batu Kawa from Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), so it can move from its present location at Bampfylde Road.
