Restaurants get grading certificates

KUALA BELAIT: Seven food premises under the jurisdiction of the Belait District Office received grading certifications for food safety yesterday morning, Borneo Bulletin reported.

Present as the guest of honour to hand over the grading certificates was Haji Ismail bin Haji Abdul Manaf, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Out of the seven restaurants, one restaurant, 11 Degrees Sports Café, was conferred a Grade ‘A’, while four restaurants received Grade ‘B’ and two restaurants obtained a Grade ‘C’.

The Belait District Office advised all owners of restaurants or food and beverage premises to have a Halal Certificate and Halal Labels no later than December 31 this year.

The restaurants as well as food and beverages premises must submit an application to obtain the Halal Certificates and Halal Labels no later than July 31.

Any restaurants or food and beverages premises that fail to obtain the Halal Certificate and Halal Label will have their licence cancelled.
