THE FIRE AT ITS HEIGHT: The industrial block housing Eastern Pillars and Harrisons was badly burnt after a suspected short circuit in the warehouse.
SIBU: Properties worth a few million ringgit went up in smoke when fire badly damaged an Industrial building in Lorong Lanang Barat 7 at about 12.30pm yesterday.
That block of building housed Eastern Pillars Sdn Bhd’s three-storey office building, its workshop and the warehouse of Harrisons Trading (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd.
No one was hurt in the fire which is believed to have been due to a short circuit in the warehouse.
Most of the 30 odd workers working in the building had gone out for lunch at the time of the incident, and the few who had stayed back alerted the Fire and Rescue Department which responded by rushing firemen in two fire engines to the scene.
The fire was doused at 2.15pm but at press time the firemen were still at the scene.
