KUCHING: Harwood Timber is an exemplary timber organisation with smooth operation in the state.
In saying this, Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud added the state has succeeded to produce timber companies with international reputation and experiences.
Taib said this at Harwood Timber’s 28th anniversary dinner at Riverside Majestic hotel here on Wednesday.
“We have a good structural organisation in the timber industry where players comply with all the procedures,” he said.
“On this matter, Harwood has also succeeded to create a sustainable administration which prioritise the welfare of its staff and were not solely profit based,” he further said.
“Harwood in fact allows their staff to indulge in other recreational activities which creates a healthy working environment,” he said.
Taib later launched Harwood Timber cooperatives, Koperasi Harwood Timer (Kohati).
Among those present were Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and wife Datin Amar Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, assistant ministers and Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohd Nor.
