2 restaurants temporarily shut down after failing hygiene standard

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: In a bid to safeguard public health, the Law Enforcement Unit under the BSB Municipal Department took action to temporarily shut down two restaurants that have failed to comply with the required hygiene standard, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The personnel of the Law Enforcement Unit closed one stall in Kianggeh in the capital and one restaurant in Gadong centre due to unhygienic standard of the premises and unsatisfactory food safety conditions.

During the inspection from the Health Department under the Ministry of Health, the restaurant was closed immediately after receiving a score of 48 per cent.

Both food establishments can only reopen if they achieve the required quality of hygiene level.

The Law Enforcement Unit welcomes public input on unhygienic restaurants. Restaurant owners are urged to maintain the cleanliness of their premises, especially when handling food.
