Heart attack and stroke kill cop, businessman

TAWAU: A police corporal and a businessman died in two separate incidents within 24 hours here yesterday.

District police chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said Corporal Abdul Aziz Salleh, 54, was found unconscious by his wife at their home at Kelapa Road, about 7.50pm on Saturday.

He said the victim, who was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was sent to Tawau General Hospital with the help of neighbours but died shortly after arriving at the hospital’s emergency unit from a heart attack.

The body had been claimed by family members for burial and the case had been classified as sudden death.

In a separate incident, a businessman was found dead in one of the rooms on the 14th floor of a leading hotel here, believed to be due to stroke.

According to Awang, the victim who was from Lahad Datu, was found dead by his wife about 10am yesterday.

He said the victim was given assistance by hotel staff but their efforts failed.

He added that Sarajuddin Ramli, 34, suffered a stroke and was confirmed dead by an ambulance team present at the scene.

Awang said there was no sign of foul play on the victim’s body, and the case had also been classified as sudden death.
