The fire that destroyed a row of shops at Hot Spring yesterday.
TAWAU: A fire destroyed nine shops near Taman Bestari, Jalan Muhibbah Raya off Jalan Hot Spring yesterday.
District Fire and Rescue Department station chief Rudy Fredzex said the department received a distress call at 1.10pm and three fire engines, a utility vehicle and 18 firemen rushed to the scene.
He said the operation to put out the fire started at 1.18pm. The fire was put under control at 1.46pm.
Rudy said the fire was already burning the row of shops when they arrived at 1.16pm and it was hot and windy while the water pressure from the hydrant in the early stage made the operation difficult.
However, he said the firemen managed to control the fire and put it out. He said the cause of the fire and losses were still under investigation.
