KOTA KINABALU: Good collaboration between the Malaysian Prisons Department (MPD) and the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation

(MCPF) can help change public perception towards prisoners, said Sabah MCPF honorary-secretary Datuk Dr Francis Yap.

He said such collaboration can be done by channelling information on rehabilitation programmes in prison and MCPF activities to the community.

“MCPF will also help to create awareness about prevention of crime in the community,” he said at the MPD’s 2013 Harvest Festival ‘Ties of Love’ event here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu Prison deputy director Bismillah Abang Masra said the objective of the programme was to strengthen ties between inmates and their families. —Bernama
