GOTCHA: The suspects are seen on the CCTV footage.

KUCHING: The CCTV system of a supermarket recently caught footage of three men and four women stealing milk powder.

A spokesperson said the milk powder worth about RM2,000 went missing on June 5 and June 8.

The suspects look to be in their 20s or early 30s.

“Initially no one in the shop realised the theft, but subsequently a worker in the supermarket caught a female shoplifter — after she placed packets of milk powder in her big bag — as she was about to leave,” said the spokesperson.

However, the employee did not manage to stop the suspect from escaping because her male accomplices came and attacked him using hard objects.

The scene attracted the attention of other workers, but they too failed to stop the suspects from fleeing.

The spokesperson said the suspects even boasted of their shoplifting exploits by shouting loudly before escaping by car.

The supermarket would not hesitate from reporting the suspected shoplifters to the police, added the spokesperson.
