KUCHING: A total of 26 officers and staff of the state Information Department are being transferred to district and divisional offices effective from the middle of this month.

Its acting state director Zaini Mohamad said this yesterday through a press release.

Among them and leading the list was Aziz Abdul Rahman, the Miri and Bintulu divisional information officer who will be transferred to Kuching and Samarahan office.

Taking over from Aziz will be Wasrin Jakaria from the Sibu office.

In announcing their names, Zaini said the transfer was part of the department’s strategy and administrative procedures to meet some of their requests and also to fill in certain vacancies.

He advised them to accept their transfers with open hearts as being civil servants, they were subject to transfer when the needs arose.

“They must be ready to serve in any environment and adjust themselves accordingly in their new places so that they can perform to the best of their abilities in serving the people,” he added.

Zaini also revealed that the ministry was now known as the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, adding there would probably be some changes to its mission, vision and objectives.

He also encouraged his staff to continue learning, especially on matters relevant to their work scopes as a means to improve their skills and efficiency.

Later, Zaini led his officers and staff to cut a cake to mark the departmental-level Gawai Dayak celebration.

He also handed over gifts to those whose birthdays fell in May and June and presented monthly excellent service certificates to those who had performed well in their jobs.
