SIBU: The 9th Brigade Infantry has always cooperated with the various government departments and agencies for the benefit of the people, its commander Brigadier-General Datuk Stephen Mundaw says.

He said the team had gone through many changes over the past two years with him at the helm.

“We have achieved our goals, especially in working with the government agencies.

“We were involved in the constructions of roads and houses to meet the needs of the people,” he recalled, saying all these projects were completed on schedule.

He was speaking at a farewell parade in his honour at the Third Royal Ranger Regiment Camp (3RRD) at Oya Camp, Mile 14 here yesterday.

Earlier, Stephen handed over his duty to acting 9th Commander Brigadier Lieutenant Colonel Zainuddin Bahari, witnessed by the 1st Infantry Division Chief Lieutenant Colonel Mahmud Ahad.

Also present were Stephen’s wife Datin Jacqueline Peris and commanding officer of 3RRD Lieutenant-Colonel Saufi Omar.

Stephen, 55, will be leaving for a year’s further study at World Defence College in the United States.

He leaves with his family for Kuala Lumpur today (Saturday), en route to the United States on July 17.

His parting shot for his boys: “Keep on with what you’ve been doing and always strive to live up to our slogan ‘Tetap Unggul’ (remain superior).”
