BINTULU: A 22-year-old Indonesian worker lives to tell his tale despite being hit by 28 pellets from a shotgun at around 6pm at a plantation in Samalaju on Sunday afternoon.

Plantation worker Junaidin and three colleagues were on a fishing trip to a river near their hostel on their day off.

When they reached the river, a man suddenly appeared out of nowhere with a shotgun. Junaidin’s colleagues managed to run away in time but he was too slow and received the full blast of the shotgun.

Despite the multiple wounds on his back and arms, Junaidi managed to get back to the hostel to seek help.

His colleagues immediately sent him to Bintulu Hospital where 28 pellets were found lodged in his back and arms.

His condition was reported to be stable and not life-threatening but he was required to stay in hospital for further observation.

The person-in-charge of the plantation reported the case to the police who immediately looked into the case.

At 11am yesterday, police had a breakthrough with the remand of a 52-year-old Iban along Miri-Bintulu Road.
