MIRI: Villagers at Long Lellang, a settlement nestled deep in the interior along Akah River, are happy that the government has supplied them with 1Malaysia water tanks.

Long Lellang community leader Penghulu Freddie Abun said they were grateful to the government for its caring gesture in providing them with 45 of the water tanks.

“The villagers of the remote settlement in Long Lellang here have every reason to be happy as the much-awaited 1Malaysia water storage tanks have finally reached them,” he said yesterday.

He said the plastic tanks that can hold about 400 gallons of water each will alleviate the shortage of water experienced by the villagers during the dry season when the gravity feed system dries up.

Besides the water tanks, he said the government would also provide materials for the village to upgrade their water supply system such as polypipe, cement and other fittings.

“However, these materials have not yet been delivered to the people due to the poor access to the isolated village,” Freddie added.

He hoped that more basic facilities and amenities will be provided to them.
