SIBU: The eldest son of murder suspect Tiang Lee Yee might have to face emotional and psychological trauma alone.

But Soon Tai, 17, had promised to stay strong in the grace of God following the killings of his mother and two siblings in their house here on Friday.

He had witnessed the death of his mother Ling Yung Ming, 40, sister Christine, 14, and brother Victor, 2, before his father beat him with a bamboo stick. He then scrambled out of the gassed room to run for his life.

Comfort from friends has since poured into his Facebook, and in reply Soon Tai promised them he would be strong in the grace of God; he also used various inspirational scripture verses as motivation for himself.

He said: “Life is a storm; there are many ups and downs, but if we are willing to let divine nature walk through we shall see calmness.”

Soon Tai said he was preparing himself to find peace in the divine nature.

He assured his friend, “Since I survived this incident, I shall not do anything stupid.”

His friends also comforted and motivated him with inspirational scripture verses.

Going through the same pain in the family is Soon Tai’s aunt – Li Xiaolan. She is the widow of Ling Tong Hock, who was killed with his two children and mother at his house at RTM Road last year.

Li said after going through hell herself last year, she found it hard to believe another tragedy had hit the family. She described Yung Ming as a close family member who had laughed and cried with her through difficult times.

Yung Ming, she added, had also accompanied her through the hard times and taken her to Christian fellowships to help her find comfort. Friends have also poured words of comfort into her Facebook.

In remembrance of Yung Ming and her children, Li posted a photograph of her carrying Victor.
