SIBU: The Human Resource Development Foundation has recently approved all financial assistance for professional accounting courses.

These include the qualifying examination (QE) of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), fundamentals and professional levels of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and foundation and professional levels of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia.

Employees with accounting degrees that are recognised by any of these accounting bodies can register directly to the professional level examination.

For those who are not from accounting background, they can start by registering into the QE/fundamentals/foundation level examinations as the Malaysian government encourages employees to attain dual certificates, including world class, internationally recognised qualifications.

Accounting qualifications are generic and the foundation envisages that the accounts and finance functions of all its registered employers are handled by trained professionals who are competent in the accounting field.

Employers play a vital role in the development of their employees and their HRD levy can be utilised by sending their employees for up-skilling and re-skilling programmes either through on-the-job, in-house or public programmes training.

This process of improving employees’ skills and competencies is to help employers in maintaining and improving company performance.

It also equips employees with skills for personal development and career advancement.

Continuous training and development programmes are essential components of workforce planning.

Succession planning is also dependent on an effective development programme.

Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) is an ACCA approved learning partner with gold status and also the authorised PSMB training provider.

All employees, especially those working in accounting firms and accounting department can choose to study CAT qualifications and ACCA qualifications part-time at MPI.
