Lorry driver cheats death after hitting logs from another lorry

CULPRIT: One of the fallen logs that caused the accident.

SIBU: A lorry driver was seriously injured after ramming into logs that fell from another lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

The 52-year-old man surnamed Tiong from Teku Road was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Sibu Hospital for a fractured right arm and chest and head injuries.

The accident occured at 8.30pm on Saturday  near Trusan Road junction where there was no street lights.

It was believed  the logs fell after the rope tying them snapped.

SERIOUSLY HURT: Medical personnel carry the victim to the ambulance with the help of the public.

After hitting the logs, the lorry driver lost control of his vehicle which veered to the opposite lane, landing in a bush.

He sat in his damaged lorry, immobilised by his injuries.

When his wife and daughter arrived at the scene, they called an ambulance.

The fallen logs were later moved to the roadside but shards of glass were scattered on the road.

Meanwhile, a man was admitted to Sibu Hospital yesterday morning after his car collided with a lorry at Mile 6 Old Oya Road.

The 49-year-old known only as Chieng  suffered from  concussion and chest and head injuries.
