KUCHING: The Prisons Department headquarters in Bukit Wira, Kajang has fixed the date for visit by families of inmates in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya.

Families wanting to visit inmates in all prisons, rehabilitation centres and Henry Gurney School can do so on the third and fourth day of Hari Raya.

For inmates who are detained at Kamunting Detention Centre in Taiping (ISA detainees), the first and second day of Hari Raya have been fixed for family visits.

The visiting hours are from 8.15am to 4.15pm. Visitors are required to bring along their visiting card and identification card or MyKad.

Visitors are not allowed to bring any food or drink for the prisoners. If they intend to do so, the food and drink can only be purchased at the prisons’ canteen.

Priority of the visit during Hari Raya is given to Muslim inmates. Visitors are subject to the Prisons Act and Regulations which enables prison officers to conduct physical checks when they enter and leave the prisons.
