Two accidental deaths in less than 12 hours

LIMBANG: Two cases of accidental death, one involving a road accident and another of a man found dead at a bus stop, were reported here on Thursday night and Friday morning respectively.

In the first case, the victim, Zainal Ludin, 54, was killed when his motorcycle collided with an oncoming lorry at Km3, Kubong Road here at 8.20pm.

The lorry was travelling from town centre to Kubong.

Zainal who sustained serious injuries died instantly. The lorry driver and a passenger escaped unhurt.

According to Zainal’s wife, Sundi Momin, 56, her husband had acted strangely four days before the accident.

“He (the deceased) asked me about the condition of the graveyard … and asked God to forgive all his sins,” Sundi said in between tears, while waiting for the body of her husband to be brought out of Limbang Hospital’s mortuary.

The couple has three children.

In the other case, a member of the public  called the police at 7.15am to inform them about the discovery at the bus-stop at Pandaruan Road.

Police then went to the scene to investigate.

The victim, identified as Khairuddin Mada, was pronounced dead by medical personnel who arrived at the scene at 8am.

Police said the victim was a labourer from Indonesia.

Initial reports stated that there were no external injuries to his body and his wallet was found intact in his back pocket.

Police have yet to find the bicycle reportedly used by the deceased before he was found dead at the bus stop.
