State Mosque to get RM2 mln facelift

KOTA KINABALU: An allocation of RM2 million will be given for the repair and upgrade of the State Mosque in Sembulan, said Assistant Special Duties Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.

He said works at the mosque would begin after Hari Raya and was expected to be completed in 18 months.

“This will include repainting and beautifying of the parking areas, fixing the lights and other amenities,” he said to reporters when met at the mosque yesterday.

Also present were Islamic Religious Affairs Department Sabah (Jheains) director Datuk Amri A Suratman and State Mufti Ustaz Bungsu @ Aziz Haji Jaafar.

Earlier, Arifin witnessed Cement Industry Sabah (CIS) chairman Datuk Samsudin Yahya presenting tithe to the Sabah Zakat Centre.

The Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) subsidiary paid RM100,000 in tithe for its last year’s business revenues.
