Snowdan still chairman of PRS Balai Ringin

KUCHING: Balai Ringin assemblyman Snowdan Lawan has been re-elected chairman of PRS Balai Ringin division for the 2013-2016 term during their annual general meeting (AGM) recently.

The meeting was attended by about 500 party members.

Snowdan, who is Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) deputy secretary-general is assisted by Johnny Lumi (deputy chairman) and vice-chairman Barnabas Majang.

Others in the exco line up include secretary Jeli Lebat, assistant secretary Unga Dana, treasurer Adam Esa, assistant treasurer Lama Bungkol and Kapitan Lee Khin Onn as information chief. There are 19 other committee members.

The youth chief is Rentap Gasan, youth secretary Ricky Pree, Sula Atin women chief and Mary Saing her secretary.

The meeting held at the Balai Ringin multipurpose hall on July 27, also saw 20 observers from other BN component parties as well as non-governmental organisations attending the meeting.

The election was chaired by a political secretary to the chief minister, Wilson Nyabong.

Among issues brought up at the meeting were requesting for the state government, particularly the Land and Survey Department, to hasten the process of perimeter survey for NCR lands in the division.

Also mentioned was a proposal to the government to establish an agro-based cluster in Balai Ringin whose main industry is agriculture-based involving the planting of oil palm , pepper, rubber, banana and pineapple among others.

The new committee also resolved that the post of party president and his deputy not to be contested in the forthcoming PRS triennial delegates conference (TDC). Currently Tan Sri Dr James Masing is president and the deputy, Datuk Joseph Entulu.
