Teenager remanded for alleged rape of baby sister

LIMBANG: A 17-year-old boy has been remanded for seven days starting Wednesday to allow the police to investigate claim that he has raped his own two-year-old sister about three months ago.

This comes about after their mother lodged a police report at 7.40pm Wednesday.

Limbang District police chief, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai, said that medical examination conducted at Limbang Hospital showed that there were red marks on the girl’s private part.

“She was sent to Miri Hospital today (yesterday) for further treatment,” Mohd Bukhori told a news conference here yesterday, which was also attended by his deputy DSP Daniel Desmond Benjamin,  head of Traffic Unit Inspector Khairol Ridzuan Ahmad and head of Commercial Crime Division Inspector Kantharuben.

Mohd Bukhori added initial reports showed that the suspect had mental problem but had never received any treatment.

“In fact, both siblings, from a village in Batu Danau, do not have any identification papers and the suspect only attended school up to Primary 2.”

In an unrelated case, Mohd Bukhori said two youths were arrested Wednesday evening for allegedly stealing stuff from Limbang Plaza.

He said the incident occurred at 10.15 pm when a security guard trailed the youths, who acted suspiciously, to a place where they hid the stolen items which included cigarettes, several boxes of electronic cigarette flavors, battery charger and wallet.

Mohd Bukhori said one of the suspects, a 16-year-old student had a previous criminal record related to drug, but was released by the court and was being observed by the police and Welfare Dept.The other suspect was a 15-year-old school dropout.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
