KUCHING: The state Health Department yesterday confirmed that Sarawak did not import the brands and groups of milk products believed to be contaminated with bacteria.

Its director Datu Dr Zulkifli Jantan said the diary giant Fonterra was withdrawing its products from the market, including Malaysia, as a precautionary measure.

“The brand and the group of the milk products that have been identified to be contaminated are not in the country, including the state, thus the people should not be worried,” Dr Zulkifli said.

Meanwhile, AFP reported that New Zealand withdrew more than 1, 000 tonnes of milk products from seven countries, including Malaysia, after it announced they were contaminated with the bacteria Clostridium botulism.
