KUCHING: For an evening of comedy for a cause, be prepared to go barefoot, dress comfortably, and feast longhouse style on truly Sarawakian cuisine at Barefoot Mercy’s (BFM) charity dinner featuring the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians (MACC).
On the show’s agenda are funny observations, song parodies, impersonations and witty revelations, with proceeds to go to BFM’s charitable initiatives, which involve improving quality of life for Sarawak’s rural communities.
Comedians Douglas Lim, Kuah Jenhan and Dr Jason Leong have performed sold-out New Year’s shows every year in Kuala Lumpur and Penang and will perform at Pullman Kuching on Sept 6 at 7.30pm.
While Lim is primarily a stand-up comedian, he is also an actor, composer and lyricist.
His stand-up comedy performances include ‘Eh, Got Free Ticket Ah?’ at the Actors Studio Bangsar, Comedy Club (Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore), Harith Iskandar’s Nationwide Tour and PJ Laugh Festival.
Kuah has performed at The Best of Malaysia Comedy in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as part of the Brisbane and Melbourne Comedy Festival alongside Harith Iskandar and Lim.
At the PJ Laugh Fest 2011, he performed his debut solo-show ‘Kuah Jenhan: Tall, Dark, and Comedian’ to sold-out audiences.
Dr Leong is the newest member of the MACC and works as a medical doctor at Hospital Selayang.
Over the last two years, he’s proven his comedic mettle by performing locally as well as in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Founded in 2011, BFM is a local non-profit group where members contribute individual and specialised skills to improving access to basic infrastructure for indigenous communities in Sarawak.
