KUALA LUMPUR: Wisma Putra is still in the midst of determining the actual status of Tung Wei Fei who was reported to have died while held captive by Filipino gunmen, along with his cousin.

In a statement here yesterday, it said the Philippine security authorities were conducting further investigations on the 34-year-old’s fate.

“We are working closely with the relevant authorities in Malaysia, as well as with the Philippine National Police (PNP) on the matter,” it added.

On Nov 13, last year, Wei Fei, along with his cousin, Tung Wei Jie, 26, were abducted by Filipino gunmen at the family’s bird’s nest farmhouse in Lahad Datu, Sabah and taken to Jolo in Southern Philippines.
