Car smashed, driver slashed in ambush

SLASHED: The driver seeking treatment at the hospital for the wound sustained in the attack.

KUCHING: A man sustained a slash wound on his left arm after he was attacked by two men who blocked off his car at Jalan Song here early yesterday.

The incident happened around 2am when the 37-year-old victim, from Capital Garden, was sending a male friend back home after a night out.

While driving along Jalan Song, a white Kia Sportage was said to have blocked off the victim’s Proton Saga before two men alighted brandishing a machete.

The men then smashed the victim’s car and slashed his left arm when he tried to intervene before speeding off from the scene.

It was unclear if he knew his assailants.

The victim managed to drive himself to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment and later headed to a private medical centre for further medical attention.

Police are investigating after a report was made immediately following the attack.

In a separate case, a trader from Ellis Road here lost two teeth and sustained bruises to his head and body after he was bashed up by four persons on Friday.

The 39-year-old told police the incident happened around 11pm near a supermarket in Taman Malihah when he was set upon by four persons known to him after initially being summoned there to meet them.

Following the assault, the men drove off in a silver Perodua Myvi belonging to his elder sister which he used to get to the meeting point.

Police are investigating the case.
