SIBU: A bush fire in Lane 21, Wong King Huo Road is said to have lingered on for two weeks with nearby residents still on tenterhooks.
A man who identified himself as Wong from Khing Lee Enterprise Construction said he had contacted the Bomba four times.
“Four times they came and the fire is still there,” he lamented, while complaining about firemen’s alleged lack of promptness in reacting to his distress call.
“I called the Bomba at about 4pm yesterday, but firemen only
arrived at about 5.30pm,” he corroborated.
Wong worried about the safety of people and property nearby, noting some wooden houses in the neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, a Bomba personnel said the cause of the fire had not been ascertained.
“We’re trying our best to put out the fire,” he said.
