KUCHING: The post of PBB Women chief will not be contested, said the party’s deputy women chief Datuk Fatimah Abdullah.
She pointed out that top posts in the party such as the Women chief, Youth chief and the deputies are usually not contested.
“These posts will not be contested in the PBB convention and party election this October. Instead, they are usually decided through discussion among the top council members and exco members. It has always been a culture in PBB to maintain stability and unity within the party,” she said.
“For the other posts, anyone can contest. Those interested to contest can get the nomination papers,” she told reporters at her ministry office here yesterday.
Fatimah stressed that because there are two components in PBB, namely Pesaka Wing and Bumiputera Wing, there is need to ensure the election results are received favourably by both sides.
However, she refused to reveal whether the highest post in
PBB Women has already been decided or not.
“PBB election is still a long way, in October. It is not appropriate to reveal any details right now, as changes can still be made until the day of the election,” she said.
The current Women chief is Dato Sri Empiang Jabu.
