KUCHING: UCSI University Sarawak Campus, the leading hospitality and tourism school in the region, will hold open days today and tomorrow (Aug 24-25) from 9am to 5pm.

A press statement said visitors can learn more about the Centre for Pre-U studies (CPU) and Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM).

The university recently organised the ‘High School Hands-on Workshop’, which gave secondary school students the opportunity to experience the art of housekeeping, food and beverage preparation, science lab demonstration as well as participate in a flame making workshop and mocktail and coffee-making workshop.

Three secondary schools here participated in the one-day workshop that provided practical training and hands-on experiences for students to explore the world of tourism and hospitality as well as sciences.

Visitors can also obtain information on financial assistance such as scholarship and education loans offered through the university.

UCSI is also offering 20 per cent tuition fee waivers under the Education Assist Scheme for all its diploma programmes — Diploma in Hotel Management, Diploma in Culinary Arts and Diploma in Leisure and Recreation Management — with a minimum entry requirement of five Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) credits, limited to the first 20 enrolments.

FHTM offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours programmes — in Commerce, Event and Tourism Management as well as Hospitality Management.

For students who are interested to further their studies in Medicine and Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Architecture, Engineering, Social Sciences and Applied Science programmes, the CPU Sarawak Campus provides options for Foundation Studies in both Arts and Science.

Registration for the September intake is currently in progress.

Interested students should bring along their academic transcripts or result slips.
