MIRI: The Curtin University Sarawak Chemical Engineering Student Club (CESC) has over 50 new student members from different disciplines.

The club recently held a welcoming party to introduce them to the club, its members and staff of the university’s Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering.

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering department head Associate Professor Chua Han Bing called on all members to get involved in the club’s activities.

“University life is not just about excelling in your studies. Social involvement through club activities will contribute towards a wholesome university experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, CESC advisor Associate Professor Perumal Kumar said participation in club activities will help students attain Curtin Graduate Attributes such as the ability to apply discipline, knowledge, principles and concepts; think critically, creatively and reflectively; utilise lifelong learning skills; recognise and apply international perspectives; demonstrate intercultural awareness and understanding; as well as apply professional skills.

Members later participated in games designed to build camaraderie.
