Community leaders pay last respect to Chan

KUCHING: Chinese community leaders yesterday visited the late Datuk Chan Siaw Hee’s residence in Foochow Road to pay last respect to him yesterday.

The late Chan was one of the founders of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and father of former Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Chan Seng Khai who is also former Batu Lintang assemblyman.

The visitors included some SUPP leaders, Federation of Kuching and Samarahan Divisions Chinese Associations, Sarawak’s leaders led by its president Lu Kim Yong, the members of the Management committee of Kuching Chung Hua Middle Schools led by its chairman Richard Wee, Consul General of the People’s republic of China in Kuching Li Shugang.

Met at Chan’s residence, Lu said the federation and some other organisations planned to hold a memorial ceremony for Chan.

He would hold discussion with Chan’s family and the date and venue are yet to be confirmed.
