MIRI: A mosque will be built near Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club along Jalan Miri By-Pass here soon.

Juara Cahya Sarawak Sdn Bhd and Pelita Holdings Sdn Bhd said in a statement that the ground-breaking ceremony for the mosque, the biggest in Lopeng area, cum Hari Raya gathering would be held on September 2 at 10am.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud is scheduled to officiate at the function.

The proposed mosque sits on 27.8 hectares, and it would be built in phases.

It would be linked to shoplots by an internal 20-metre circulation road that is also connected to residential developments.

It would have a prayer hall that can sit 600 people.

Everyone is invited to the event on Monday.

The organisers said there would be plenty of drinks and food such as satay, beef rendang and cendol.

There would also be a lucky draw. Prizes include an iPad Mini, LCD TV and hampers.

There would be ‘Nasyid’ and live band performances from Red De Voice and String Connection Traditional from Kuala Lumpur.
