PENAMPANG: The body of a 17-year old teenager, who went missing in Sungai Kibunut here on Saturday, was found yesterday.
The remains of Nadzmil Hail from Kampung Kapak Inanam was found 10 metres from the spot he was last seen playing in the river with his friends on Saturday.
It was learnt that the victim and five of his friends, aged between 19 to 20 years old, were playing in the river around 2pm when he suddenly went missing and was believed to have drowned.
At 4pm, the victim’s mother received a call from her son’s friends, saying that her son had gone missing. By the time she arrived at the scene, the Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel were already conducting a search for Nadzmil.
The rescue operation lasted until 8pm on Saturday and resumed at 7am yesterday.
The body of Nadzmil was found by villagers and the fire personnel around 7.10am yesterday and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.
