KUCHING: The Cycling Recreational Club of Kuching (KOOCH) is inviting everyone to join an easy sunset charity ride this coming Oct 19 to help Society of Kuching Urban Poor (SKUP) to raise funds for its mobile soup kitchen.

This event is supported by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU).

The 20km ride will start at 6.30pm from Le Park (behind civic centre here) to Satok Bridge and back to Kuching Waterfront via Jalan Astana, passing many famous attractions and landmarks of the city.

KOOCH is also organising this event to help raise awareness of road safety for cyclists as well as to promote cycling as a healthy and fun activity.

This is also in line with DBKU’s plan to turn the city into a vibrant choice city of stay through the introduction of the Clean, Beautiful and Safe Enhancement Plan which was recently introduced.

Registration is now open for a participation fee of RM30 where all participants will received an event T-shirt, a goody bag and all will stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes during the event.

Forms can be obtained from all major local bike shops in the city or downloaded from www.kooch.org.

Meanwhile, KOOCH represents the interest of cyclists to raise awareness of cyclists’ rights and to improve cycling etiquette and hopefully cycling infrastructure in the city.

It also aims to get more people to cycle more often through their cycling events such as Let’s Share the Road, community initiatives, educational programmes and advocacy.

For more information on the event, call Gabriel Hii at 019-8109008 or Rahim Bugo at 013-8066001.
