Nominations received for all 52 LDP posts

KOTA KINABALU: Nominations were in for all 52 posts of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) yesterday, including for the president and deputy president posts.

There were four nominees for the top post, including Datuk Liew Vui Keong, Datuk Teo Chee Kang, Datuk Pang Yuk Ming and Lim Kai Min; while Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin, Datuk Pang Yuk Ming, Datuk Lim Ming Hoo and Charles O Pang Su Pin were nominated for the number two post.

LDP Election Committee (EC) chairman Datuk Tan Sui Fu said nominations were officially closed at 4pm yesterday at the party headquarters, adding that there were nominations for all posts that could be contested.

This means that there were nominations for the president, deputy president, five vice presidents and 15 supreme council seats on the Supreme Council; as well as the leader, deputy leader, three vice president and 10 committee posts on the Central Youth and Central Women respectively.

Tan said the nominees for the respective posts would be announced in due course.

He added that the nominees would receive a letter informing them of their nominations, and it would be up to the nominees whether or not to accept the nominations and contest in the party election.

On the other hand, Tan said 29 LDP divisions have also submitted the name list of their party congress delegates to the headquarters yesterday.

Meanwhile, LDP ‘acting president’ Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin said the party congress and election would be held on October 19 and 20 as planned, adding that October 19 would be the election for Central Youth and Central Women, while October 20 would be the party congress and election for the Supreme Council.

Chin also disclosed that he would accept the nomination to contest for deputy president, adding that his Api-Api division nominated Teo and Chin to contest for party president and deputy president posts respectively.

The EC consists of Tan as the chairman, Datuk Lau Yick Chiang, Yong Wui Chung and Chin Yen Sang as members.
